Calcium Hydroxyapatite Filler

Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA) filler is a type of dermal filler used primarily in aesthetic medicine for facial volume restoration, wrinkle reduction, and contour enhancement. It’s best known by the brand name Radiesse®, although other formulations exist.

What is Calcium Hydroxyapatite?

  • A biocompatible substance found naturally in human bones and teeth.

  • In filler form, it consists of microspheres of CaHA suspended in a gel carrier.

  • The particles are smooth and round, mimicking the mineral structure of bone.

How It Works

  1. Immediate Effect: The gel provides instant volume after injection.

  2. Collagen Stimulation: Over time, the CaHA microspheres stimulate natural collagen production, leading to longer-lasting results.

  3. Gradual Absorption: The gel and microspheres are metabolized by the body over several months.

Duration of Results

  • Typically 12–18 months, sometimes longer, depending on:

    • Injection site

    • Individual metabolism
