Acne scars are marks or indentations left on the skin after an acne lesion has healed. They can vary in appearance, ranging from dark spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) to more severe scars like deep pits or raised bumps. The severity of acne scars depends on the type of acne, how the acne was treated, and the skin’s healing process.
– Severe Acne, Deep cystic or nodular acne
– Picking or Squeezing
– Delayed Treatment
– Genetics
– Skin Tone: Darker skin tones are more prone to hyperpigmentation (dark spots), while lighter skin tones tend to develop indentations or atrophic scars more frequently.
Lasers are one of the most effective treatments for acne scars. They target either the pigment (for dark spots) or the skin texture (for indented scars). We use Fractional lasers called Halo Pro and also Contour TRL laser resurfacing for treatment of Acne Scars. – BBL Heroic : Primarily for hyperpigmentation and redness, BBL targets melanin and can help lighten dark spots.
Subcision is a procedure where a needle is inserted under the skin to break up scar tissue and encourage the formation of
new collagen.
PRP involves drawing your blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets, and then injecting this serum into the skin. PRP can stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of acne scars.
For hypertrophic or keloid scars, corticosteroid injections can help flatten and reduce inflammation in the raised scars.
